Klemen Gercar won home event
OREHOVA VAS (SLOVENIA), 11 July 2010 – Klemen Gercar (Axo KTM Silver Action) is a winner of his home EMX2 European Championship round. Steven Lenoir (Vamo Racing) was second in front of third Valentin Guillod (KTM Swiss).

It was a great race for Slovenian fans, which were supporting riders all around the track. Their rider Klemen Gercar won twice. In first heat Valentin Guillod took the holeshot in front of Gercar. He was faster in a fight of two KTM riders and passed Guillod. Swiss rider was still trying to take back the lead and he was pushing on Gercar which was too fast for him. Steven Lenoir finished third.

Pier Filippo Bertuzzo (Massignani Racing) started first in front of Peter Irt in the second heat. But there came Gercar again and took the lead. Gercar was riding convincingly so that Bertuzzo could not take the first place. French rider Steven Lenoir was third again.

Gercar, who finished third in the EMX2 Championship last year won the round of Orehova vas in front of Steven Lenoir and Valentin Guillod. Leading riders of the Championship Andrea Cervellin and Jernej Irt (both Husqvarna Cross 2 R) did not finish on the podium. Irt was fourth and Cervellin sixth. Cervellin remains on the top of the Championship. Steven Lenoir overtook Jernej Irt on the second place for three points. Guillod progressed to fourth position.

Ninth round for the UEM EMX2 European Championship will be in Schwedt, Germany on the August 1.

RIDER’S COMMENTS

1st KLEMEN GERCAR (SLOVENIA): “I am glad and happy that I could ride the race in front of my fans in Slovenia. My Italian MX2 Team Axo KTM Silver Action let me to participate this race and I am really glad for that. The weekend was not easy because temperature was so high. First heat was more interesting today and I am happy to win both. Also last year I took the podium in Orehova vas but this year I do not make the complete EMX2 Championship.”

2nd STEVEN LENOIR (FRANCE): “Qualifying race was not successful because I finished sixth. Today I had a bad first start but then I was riding fast, I was pushing as much as possible and I came behind Gercar. I was tired in the second heat. I found a good line on the track and finished third. It was my first time in Orehova vas, I like the track but the weather was really too hot.”

3rd VALENTIN GUILLOD (SWITZERLAND): “This weekend was difficult and very hot but anyway it was the same for all of us. I am not too satisfied with the second heat, I finished it fourth. The race was not easy. My KTM bike was working fine and I enjoyed the race, only suspension was not perfect. I am fourth in the Championship now and the distance to third place is not too big. I must to thank to my parents and sponsors.”
